Catriona Hurley joined Liberty Law in June of 2025 and she is currently completing her articles with the firm. Catriona was born and raised in Edmonton Alberta, and she has wanted to practice criminal defence for as long as she can remember.
Catriona received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Political Science and a minor in Sociology from the University of Alberta in 2022. She graduated with distinction. Catriona ventured out East and obtained her Juris Doctorate with a specialization in Criminal Law from the Schulich School of Law, at Dalhousie University. While in law school, Catriona spent a semester working with Dalhousie Legal Aid in both criminal and family law, confirming her passion for criminal law. Catriona was the third-year representative for Dalhousie’s Prison Justice Society and she is passionate about ensuring that all individuals are provided the rights that they deserve.
Catriona enjoys advocating for others and she has many years of experience in social work both in Edmonton and in Halifax. Catriona has an extensive background working with youth and young offenders, and she is very comfortable working with individuals who are suffering from severe mental health concerns.
Catriona is an experienced public speaker and actor. Catriona has performed as a professional stand-up comedian. She is a cast member with Edmonton’s Rapid Fire Theatre. She has also co-written and performed in multiple Edmonton and Halifax Fringe shows.
