Client was charged with dangerous driving causing death. He failed to stop at a stop sign on a rural highway colliding with a southbound vehicle resulting in the death of the driver of the southbound vehicle. Case was resolved by way of a guilty plea to a Traffic Safety Act ticket along with a fine and 60-day license suspension. The Criminal Code charge of dangerous driving causing death was withdrawn by the Crown. A criminal record, a custodial sentence, and a minimum five-year driver’s license suspension was avoided.
